There is an Abnormality on the After School Front!

There is an Abnormality on the After School Front! is a manga series created by Kimoto Yuuki that first appeared in the late 2010s. The work emerged from the vibrant culture of Japanese shonen magazine serializations, blending elements of supernatural mystery with the tropes of a school-based ensemble drama. It was designed to explore the tension between ordinary teenage life and the intrusion of anomalous, otherworldly entities, a narrative approach that resonated with readers interested in genre-bending fiction.

Kimoto Yuuki developed the visual aesthetic of the series by balancing clean, accessible character designs with unsettling, distorted depictions of the titular abnormalities. This stylistic contrast was intentional, aimed at grounding the reader in a familiar classroom setting before subverting their expectations with horror-inflected imagery. Upon its release in collected volumes, the series was received as a niche but effective entry in the supernatural thriller genre, praised for its pacing and the imaginative implementation of its core concept.
