Where it came from
Tiger & Bunny originated as an original anime television series produced by Sunrise in 2011, directed by Keiichi Sato with character designs by Masakazu Katsura. The series was developed as a unique take on the superhero genre, set in a near-future city where heroes act as corporate-sponsored reality television stars. The collaboration between the studio and Katsura was intended to blend high-octane action with a grounded, character-driven narrative exploring the commercialization of heroism.
Following its broadcast, the franchise expanded into various formats, including manga adaptations, light novels, and feature films. The property was well-received for its subversion of traditional hero tropes and its exploration of the complex relationship between corporate influence and public service. Its enduring appeal led to the release of collected volumes and multi-media sets that catalog the series' visual development and narrative arcs, cementing its status as a significant title in 21st-century animation.
