Where it came from
Toratsugumi: TSUGUMI PROJECT is a post-apocalyptic manga series written and illustrated by the artist known as ippatu. Serialized beginning in 2019, the narrative follows a soldier named Leon who is sent to a desolate, overgrown version of Japan centuries after a catastrophic event rendered the country uninhabitable. The project emerged as a striking visual experiment, blending gritty military science fiction with an immersive, atmospheric depiction of a world reclaimed by nature.
The series is noted for its highly detailed, cinematic artwork, which ippatu crafted to emphasize the isolation and scale of the ruined landscape. By prioritizing environmental storytelling and intricate mechanical designs, the author sought to create a sense of profound melancholy and wonder. It has been well-received by readers for its technical mastery and unique visual identity, distinguishing it within the contemporary seinen manga landscape.
