Tractatus Amor-Philosophicus

Tractatus Amor-Philosophicus is a reflective volume by the Korean artist Jeongu, known for a signature style that blends minimalist aesthetics with intimate, melancholic themes. The work emerged from the contemporary South Korean independent publishing scene, a sector characterized by a focus on personal essays and illustrated reflections on modern human relationships. The book seeks to deconstruct the complexities of romantic experience through a philosophical lens, pairing brief, evocative prose with sparse, evocative line illustrations.

The design of the volume reflects a deliberate choice toward understated elegance, prioritizing tactile paper quality and ample white space to mirror the introspective nature of the content. Jeongu intended the work to serve as a meditative space for the reader, moving away from traditional narrative structures in favor of fragmented observations on love and existence. Upon its release, the volume garnered praise within art book communities for its ability to distill intricate emotional states into accessible, visual poetry.
