Trap

Trap, a manga series penned by Yuri Ebihara, emerged within the competitive landscape of late 20th-century Japanese shojo manga. Created during a period when narrative themes of psychological tension and interpersonal mystery were gaining traction in the genre, the work explores the intricate, often darker emotional states of its characters. Ebihara utilized a clean, expressive art style characteristic of the era to emphasize the internal conflicts that define the series' central premise.

The design and thematic execution of the volume were intended to subvert the typical lighthearted expectations of its demographic, favoring suspense and atmospheric storytelling. Upon its publication, the work was noted for its departure from traditional romantic tropes, finding its audience among readers who appreciated character-driven narratives with a sense of unease. It remains a representative example of how manga artists of the time balanced conventional aesthetic expectations with more complex, experimental storytelling choices.
