Tweede vervolg-catalogus der Bibliotheek van het Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen

The Tweede vervolg-catalogus serves as a critical historical record for the Bibliotheek van het Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen, an institution established in 1778 in Batavia, modern-day Jakarta. This catalog was produced to document the substantial growth of the society's library collection, reflecting the organization's mission to promote scientific research and the humanities in the Dutch East Indies during the nineteenth century.

The design and compilation of such catalogs were standard academic practices of the era, intended to provide scholars and researchers with systematic access to the growing inventory of colonial-era texts, manuscripts, and scientific treatises. These volumes were well-received by the international scholarly community at the time, as they standardized bibliographic information and highlighted the breadth of knowledge being archived by the Society.
