Uchi no neko ga mononoke ni narimashite

Uchi no neko ga mononoke ni narimashite, created by the manga artist known as Mukuro, is a supernatural slice-of-life series that centers on the whimsical and often eerie transformation of domestic cats into mononoke. The work emerged from the vibrant ecosystem of Japanese online serialization platforms, where it gained popularity for its gentle blending of folklore with the familiar domesticity of pet ownership. Mukuro utilizes a distinct, soft-lined artistic style that emphasizes the comfort of the household setting while juxtaposing it with surreal, mythological elements, effectively capturing the peculiar, unpredictable nature of feline behavior.

The series is noted for its meditative pace and the affectionate bond depicted between the protagonist and their feline companions. In the broader context of contemporary manga, it serves as a prominent example of the 'iyashikei' or healing subgenre, which focuses on providing a sense of calm and emotional solace to the reader. Upon its collected publication in volume format, the series was well-received by audiences who appreciated its nuanced character designs and the author’s ability to imbue mundane daily routines with a layer of gentle, supernatural mystery.
