Utrecht voorheen en thans: tijdschrift voor geschiedenis, oudheden en statistiek van Utrecht

Published during the mid-19th century in the Netherlands, this periodical served as a scholarly repository for the history, antiquities, and statistics of the province and city of Utrecht. It emerged from a period of growing Dutch interest in regional historiography and local heritage, aiming to preserve records that might otherwise be lost to modernization and urban expansion. The publication functioned as a vital resource for local historians, providing a systematic approach to cataloging Utrecht's unique cultural and administrative past.

The editorial vision behind the journal was rooted in the 19th-century tradition of erudite provincial investigation. By documenting both major historical events and granular statistical data, the contributors sought to provide a comprehensive portrait of the region's development over time. While the primary audience was limited to academic circles and local elites interested in Dutch municipal history, the journal remains a respected reference point for modern researchers examining the socio-political evolution of Utrecht throughout the early modern and nineteenth-century periods.
