Watashi no Otto wa Reitouko ni Nemutte Iru

Watashi no Otto wa Reitouko ni Nemutte Iru originated as a suspenseful web novel authored by Yazuki Misaki, initially serialized on the user-generated content platform Everystar. The narrative centers on a woman living with her husband, whose dark secret—that he is a corpse kept inside a freezer—serves as the catalyst for a psychological exploration of domestic dysfunction and obsession. The story gained significant traction online for its blend of gothic horror and unsettling domestic drama, eventually leading to its formal publication as a print volume.

The transition from digital serialization to a print volume allowed the work to reach a wider audience, solidifying its status in the psychological thriller genre. The design and presentation focus on the macabre juxtaposition of mundane marriage and grotesque reality, mirroring the tone of the writing. Critics and readers noted how the manga adaptation, which draws directly from Misaki’s original narrative, emphasizes the suffocating atmosphere of the protagonist's household, maintaining the haunting tension established in the source material.
