Where it came from
When We Fall is a contemporary manhua series produced by Linksure, reflecting the modern expansion of the digital comics market in China. The series emerged within the landscape of web-based storytelling, where narratives are often serialized to engage mobile audiences with rapid pacing and emotionally driven character arcs. It represents a genre of popular web literature that prioritizes accessible, high-contrast visual styles typical of current digital platforms.
The creative direction behind the series focuses on the intersection of interpersonal drama and character development. As part of a larger digital ecosystem, the work aims to bridge the gap between traditional print manga aesthetics and the streamlined, vertically scrolling format favored by webtoon readers. While it serves as a staple for its specific audience, the design is largely functional, prioritizing readable character expressions and dynamic paneling suited for handheld devices.
