Wild Police Story

Wild Police Story, known in Japan as Meitantei Conan: Keisatsu Gakkou-hen, was conceived as a spin-off to the long-running Detective Conan series by Gosho Aoyama. It was serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday between 2019 and 2020 to provide long-awaited backstory for the 'Police Academy' arc, focusing on the five young officers who were part of Rei Furuya's cohort. Takahiro Arai illustrated the series, working closely under Aoyama's supervision to ensure the character designs and tone remained consistent with the core franchise while shifting the focus toward the complex interpersonal dynamics and tragic histories of these specific characters.

The series was developed to address fan interest in the lives of characters who had been mentioned only in passing during the main narrative.
