Where it came from
Originally serialized on the Pixiv platform starting in 2017, With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day Is Fun was created by mangaka Hidekichi Matsumoto. The series is a semi-autobiographical essay manga that documents the daily comedic trials and heartwarming observations of living with both a high-energy dog and a somewhat aloof, unpredictable cat. The work gained massive popularity online for its relatable depiction of pet ownership, capturing the distinct temperaments of both animals in a way that resonated deeply with readers across Japan.
The physical volume collections are known for Matsumoto's energetic art style, which utilizes exaggerated expressions and fast-paced layouts to convey the chaotic nature of her household. Following the success of the web serial, the series was adapted into an anime in 2020. The collection is celebrated for its ability to balance humor with a genuine appreciation for the human-animal bond, serving as both a lighthearted comedic read and a poignant tribute to the pets who share the author's life.
