Where it came from
Yadokashi, illustrated by Kuroi Shiro, emerged from the niche landscape of Japanese dōjinshi and independent manga publishing. The 'Color-ban' edition specifically represents a high-fidelity release intended to showcase the creator’s distinct approach to color theory and character design, which often features surreal, melancholic aesthetics that set the series apart from conventional commercial manga titles.
The work was conceptualized by Kuroi Shiro as a meditative exploration of identity and isolation, themes frequently revisited in the author's broader bibliography. Within the community, the Color-ban was received as a definitive visual iteration of the series, praised for its technical production quality and the way it preserved the nuance of the original watercolor-style illustrations that define the artist's signature style.
