Yasashiku Koroshite, Boku no Kokoro o

Yasashiku Koroshite, Boku no Kokoro o is a Japanese boys' love (BL) light novel written by Kannagi Satoru. Emerging from the vibrant landscape of late 1990s and early 2000s BL literature, the work reflects the era's focus on melodramatic storytelling and emotionally charged interpersonal dynamics. It serves as a representative example of the genre's growth, where narrative-driven novels began to complement the visual-heavy manga market, often exploring darker or more intense psychological themes that resonated with its specialized reading audience.

The aesthetic and tonal direction of the work aligns with the stylistic sensibilities of Kannagi Satoru, whose writing often emphasizes the internal struggles and complex attachments between characters. Within the context of the series, the narrative is crafted to appeal to readers seeking dramatic tension, characterized by its evocative title and thematic exploration of affection and vulnerability. While specific design credits for the original cover illustration are often tied to the publisher’s house style for the imprint, the presentation is quintessential to the period's light novel aesthetic, which played a crucial role in shaping the identity of Japanese commercial BL media.
