Yongbi the Invincible

Yongbi the Invincible, known in its native Korea as Yongbi Bulpae, debuted in 1996 as a foundational work of the manhwa industry. Written by Ryu Ki-Woon and illustrated by Moon Jung-hoo, the series emerged during a period of creative resurgence for Korean martial arts comics. It was conceived as a high-octane wuxia epic that balanced gritty, grounded character motivations with the heightened, kinetic action sequences that would eventually become the hallmark of the artistic duo's later, highly acclaimed collaboration, Gosu.

The design of the series centers on the titular protagonist, a disgraced general turned bounty hunter whose roguish charm and overwhelming combat prowess subverted the typical tropes of the righteous martial artist.
