Yu-Gi-Oh! (doujinshi) - Anzu Birthday

The Anzu Birthday doujinshi is a fan-produced publication created by the artist known as 竹久 (Takehisa). These works are part of the long-standing tradition of Japanese dōjin culture, where enthusiasts create unauthorized, self-published stories and art based on established intellectual properties—in this case, Kazuki Takahashi’s Yu-Gi-Oh! series. Produced to celebrate the character Anzu Mazaki, these booklets often serve as creative expressions for fans looking to explore narrative avenues or character dynamics not fully realized in the original manga.

The aesthetic of this piece is characteristic of early 2000s indie manga art, focusing on emotive character portraits and light-hearted, slice-of-life storytelling that centers on the birthday celebration of a core cast member. As an independent fan publication, it was never intended for wide commercial distribution and was likely sold at dōjinshi conventions like Comiket. Such items reflect the intense dedication of the Yu-Gi-Oh! fanbase during the peak of the series' popularity, preserving a specific style of fan-driven interaction that defines the community's creative output.
