Yuukyuu no Kaze Densetsu - Final Fantasy III Yori

Yuukyuu no Kaze Densetsu - Final Fantasy III Yori was published in the early 1990s as a manga adaptation inspired by the narrative world of the role-playing game Final Fantasy III. Written by Kenji Terada, who served as the primary scenario writer for the first three titles in the mainline Final Fantasy series, the work aimed to translate the game's sense of adventure and crystal-centered mythology into a serialized visual format for readers who had engaged with the Famicom original.

The manga is characterized by its departure from the specific player-controlled protagonists of the game, opting instead to build a standalone narrative arc within the setting. Terada's approach focused on expanding the lore and character dynamics that were necessarily limited by the hardware constraints of the 1990 console era. While it serves as a piece of companion media, it is viewed today primarily as a reflection of the creative synergy between Square’s early development team and the manga industry during a period when the brand was first establishing its cultural footprint in Japan.
