Zanmu - Joker

Zanmu, illustrated and authored by Kayashima Yuuta, emerged within the landscape of contemporary manga, focusing on stylized character designs and atmospheric storytelling. The series is part of a niche subset of psychological or supernatural thrillers where the visual language often leans into stark contrasts and shadow-heavy panels to emphasize the tension of the narrative. Created for a mature demographic that appreciates non-traditional pacing, the work serves as an exploration of the protagonist’s psyche, with the joker motif acting as a recurring central metaphor for instability and shifting allegiances.

The aesthetic approach of Kayashima Yuuta is characterized by sharp, deliberate lines and a minimalist use of background details, which directs the reader's attention firmly toward character interactions. Upon its release, the volume was noted for its distinct departure from standard shonen tropes, finding its home among collectors who favor experimental artistic choices in manga. Critics and readers alike have often highlighted the intentional ambiguity of the design, which reflects the creator's broader interest in subverting common reader expectations regarding character morality.
