Zettai Zetsubou Shoujo - Danganronpa Another Episode - Genocider Mode

Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls was developed by Spike Chunsoft and released in 2014 as a spin-off to the core Danganronpa visual novel series. Departing from the traditional mystery-solving format, the game functions as a third-person action-adventure title that explores the chaotic environment of Towa City. Genocider Mode is a central gameplay mechanic that allows the player to switch control to Genocider Sho, a manic, weaponized persona of the character Toko Fukawa, who serves as one of the game's two protagonists.

The character design for Toko Fukawa and her Genocider persona was overseen by Rui Komatsuzaki, the series' long-standing lead illustrator. Komatsuzaki aimed to reflect the character's intense psychological duality through sharp, erratic visual cues and a signature 'scissored' aesthetic. The inclusion of Genocider Mode was intended to provide a fast-paced cathartic counterpoint to the more methodical exploration segments of the game, receiving praise for successfully translating the series' signature surrealism into an action-oriented framework.
