Where it came from
Zoku Manga Mitaina Koi Shitai, which translates to Continued I Want a Love Like in a Manga, was authored by Chitose Yagami during a period of peak popularity for shojo romance manga in Japan. Released in the early 2000s, this volume builds upon the themes established in Yagami's previous works, which often explored the idealized, whimsical nature of school-aged romance. It was published as part of the Ciao imprint by Shogakukan, a magazine and label deeply influential in defining the aesthetic and emotional tone of manga aimed at young female readers.
The artistic style of the volume is characteristic of Yagami's signature approach, featuring expressive character designs, detailed school uniforms, and a narrative focus on the dramatic internal monologues typical of the genre. By leaning into the trope-heavy structure of the 'manga-like' love story, Yagami successfully met the expectations of her dedicated readership who sought comfort in familiar romantic beats. Upon release, the series was received as a lighthearted, accessible entry within the shojo market, cementing Yagami's status as a staple mangaka for Ciao readers during that decade.
