Where it came from
Zutto Sou Omotteta, translated as I Have Always Thought So, is a manga series by Kawamura Taku that explores the subtle, quiet dynamics of long-standing mutual affection. Originating in a digital landscape where short-form, episodic storytelling has thrived, the series focuses on the internal monologues and gradual shifts in the relationship between its two protagonists. It emerged from a broader trend in contemporary slice-of-life manga that prioritizes emotional realism and incremental character development over high-stakes drama.
Kawamura Taku designed the work with a minimalist aesthetic, utilizing clean line work and expressive panel layouts to emphasize the characters' unspoken thoughts. This stylistic choice underscores the theme of the series, which hinges on the disconnect between what the characters feel and what they are willing to voice. Upon its release, the volume was received as a sensitive and relatable observation of the anxieties inherent in forming deep, committed bonds.
