Leonard-Cushing Fight

The 1894 Kinetoscope film Edison Kinetoscopic Record of a Sneeze, colloquially known as Fred Ott's Sneeze, was produced by William Kennedy Dickson at the Edison Laboratories in West Orange, New Jersey. It was created as a short demonstration of the Kinetoscope, an early motion picture exhibition device designed for individual viewing. The film features Fred Ott, an employee at the laboratory, performing a exaggerated sneeze for the camera to test the technical feasibility of capturing rapid, realistic human motion on film.

The film is significant as one of the oldest surviving motion pictures preserved in the Library of Congress. Its design was purely functional, intended to showcase the potential of Thomas Edison's new technology rather than to serve as a narrative work of art. Despite its simplicity, the film remains a landmark in the history of cinema for being one of the first copyrighted motion pictures in the United States and a defining example of the early experimental era of moving image production.
