Where it came from
The Big Bun character card (OP07-070) originated from the 500 Years in the Future expansion of the One Piece Card Game, released in 2024. This set draws its thematic inspiration from the Egghead Arc of the manga, specifically focusing on the advanced scientific setting of Dr. Vegapunk's island. As part of a pre-release promotional cycle, this card was distributed to participants in organized play events, designed to bolster interest in the set's new mechanics and character roster prior to the wider retail launch.
The card features an illustration consistent with the Eiichiro Oda aesthetic, emphasizing the vibrant, slightly surreal character designs characteristic of the Egghead narrative. Like many cards in the OP07 set, the design prioritizes gameplay utility within the current meta, featuring the distinct layout and card-back branding established by Bandai for the One Piece Trading Card Game. It was received by the community as a thematic inclusion for decks focusing on the Egghead archetype, valued by players for its role in expanding the game's tactical diversity.
