Black Vortex

The Black Vortex event card from The Time of Battle set, indexed as OP16-115, emerged as a specialized inclusion within the Organized Play promotional series. These cards were distributed to participants of official tournament circuits, designed to reward consistency and engagement within the competitive landscape. As an event-type card, its mechanics are crafted to shift the momentum of a match, reflecting the high-stakes tactical philosophy favored by developers during this specific cycle of the game's evolution.

The visual design of the card emphasizes a stark, minimalist aesthetic, utilizing high-contrast imagery intended to convey the overwhelming nature of its in-game effect. The illustration process focused on creating a sense of atmospheric pressure, moving away from the more traditional, character-centric art style prevalent in earlier sets. Upon its release, it was noted by the player base for its balance of utility and thematic resonance, cementing its role as a staple utility card for players aiming to control the board state during the later stages of competitive matches.
