Buggy (Alternate Art)

The Buggy (Alternate Art) card, designated OP02-058, was released as part of the Paramount War expansion for the One Piece Card Game in late 2022. This set was designed to capture the intensity of the Marineford arc from the source material, focusing on the chaotic conflict between the Marines, the Seven Warlords, and the Whitebeard Pirates. As a character card featuring one of the series' most iconic comedic antagonists, this specific alternate art version was introduced to provide collectors with a more stylized, premium aesthetic compared to the standard card stock.

The illustration for this card was rendered by the artist to emphasize Buggy the Clown's dramatic and eccentric personality. By utilizing a high-contrast art style typical of the chase cards in the Paramount War set, the design aims to elevate the character beyond his typical role in the series. Upon its release, the card gained significant traction among competitive players and collectors alike, as the character’s ability to search for event cards made it a staple in blue-aligned deck compositions, further cementing its popularity within the game's initial meta cycle.
