Where it came from
The Crocodile card (OP04-060) was released in 2023 as part of the Kingdoms of Intrigue expansion set for the One Piece Card Game. This set focuses heavily on the Alabasta and Dressrosa story arcs, bringing iconic antagonists and supporting characters from these narratives into the competitive trading card environment. The card represents the primary antagonist of the Alabasta arc, Sir Crocodile, featuring an alternate art style that highlights the high-stakes, cinematic aesthetic typical of the game's premium chase cards.
The alternate art for this card was designed to emphasize Crocodile’s ruthless authority and his association with the Baroque Works organization. By utilizing a distinct, stylized illustrative approach, the artists aimed to contrast with the standard card frames, offering a more collectible, aesthetic-focused rendition. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players and collectors alike, valued both for its gameplay utility as a leader card and for its striking visual departure from the base set design.
