Where it came from
The Crocodile card (OP07-040) from the ST15-ST20 Release Event Pack was issued as part of the promotional support for the One Piece Card Game's expanding ecosystem. These cards are distributed during specific organized play events, designed to encourage local store participation and foster community engagement among collectors and competitive players alike. The release follows the tradition of providing tournament-exclusive variants that feature distinct foil patterns or promotional stamps to distinguish them from standard set cards.
The design draws upon the established aesthetic of Eiichiro Oda's original manga, focusing on the imposing presence of the former Warlord of the Sea, Crocodile. As an antagonist central to the Alabasta Arc, his visual representation in the game consistently highlights his sand-manipulation abilities and cold, calculated demeanor. The card reflects the broader art direction of the One Piece Card Game, which prioritizes high-fidelity reproductions of manga panels and character illustrations to appeal to both long-time fans of the series and players seeking visually striking additions to their decks.
