Where it came from
The DON!! card is a foundational element of the One Piece Card Game, serving as the essential resource for playing characters and activating effects. This specific Color version originates from the Special DON!! Card Pack, released alongside the Kingdoms of Intrigue expansion in 2023. Unlike standard monochrome DON!! cards found in starter decks, these special variants were designed to provide players with a premium, visually striking aesthetic to differentiate their decks during high-stakes competitive play.
The design of this series leans into the vibrant, high-energy art style characteristic of Eiichiro Oda’s source material, utilizing saturated color palettes to emphasize the power dynamic the cards represent within the game mechanics. These cards were distributed as promotional items to encourage participation in tournament-level events, reflecting Bandai’s strategy to foster a secondary market for aesthetic customization. Upon release, they were well-received by collectors and players alike for their polished finish and their status as functional status symbols within the game's rapidly growing community.
