Where it came from
The Franky character card from the 'Carrying On His Will' expansion (OP13-033) is part of the One Piece Card Game, a strategic trading card game launched in 2022 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga series. This specific set focuses on themes of legacy and the evolution of the Straw Hat crew, utilizing art styles that synthesize the modern aesthetic of the anime with the tactile, high-contrast layouts characteristic of collectible card gaming.
The design of this Franky card reflects his role as the shipwright of the Thousand Sunny, emphasizing his 'Cyborg' identity through metallic hues and bold character framing. As with other cards in the series, the illustration was commissioned from artists who work within the established visual guidelines of the Toei Animation style guide. It was well-received by competitive players for its utility in red-color deck archetypes, blending thematic consistency with functional game mechanics.
