Where it came from
Released in 2023 as part of the Pillars of Strength expansion for the One Piece Card Game, this Gin card features unique alternate art that distinguishes it from the standard card stock. It was designed to highlight the character's role in the Baratie Arc, capturing the complex, conflicted nature of the character as he reconciles his loyalty to Don Krieg with his gratitude toward Sanji. The artwork emphasizes the gritty, dramatic tone of the early series, fitting the card's defensive playstyle.
The card was produced by Bandai to expand the strategic depth of the card game, specifically catering to decks focusing on the East Blue affiliation. It was received well by players for its thematic accuracy and tactical utility within the meta, standing out as a notable inclusion for collectors interested in the minor but emotionally significant characters from the series' history. The design approach focuses on a cinematic composition that mimics the tension of the manga panels from which the character originates.
