Where it came from
The Gloriosa character card from The World's Strongest Warriors set, cataloged as OP17-046, emerged as a specialized inclusion within the Organized Play promotional series. Designed to highlight the aesthetic diversity of the franchise, this alternate art variant utilizes a distinct illustration style that prioritizes a more dynamic, action-oriented composition compared to standard set releases. The release was part of a strategic effort to reward long-term participants in regional tournament circuits, ensuring that dedicated players could obtain unique visual representations of supporting cast members.
The artistic direction for this piece focuses on character depth, employing bold linework and a vibrant color palette intended to make the card stand out in competitive deck layouts. Within the trading card community, alternate art variants like the Gloriosa (OP17-046) are often categorized as 'chase' items due to their limited distribution through tournament prize support rather than standard booster packs. Its reception has been largely positive among collectors who favor visual variety and the prestige associated with cards earned through gameplay achievements.
