Where it came from
The Gum-Gum Giant event card is part of the Emperors in the New World booster set, released as part of the One Piece Card Game's expanding meta-game. The card features Monkey D. Luffy using his Gear 5 abilities to manifest a massive form, drawing directly from the climactic battles against Kaido in the Wano Country arc of the manga. Its design emphasizes the whimsical yet overwhelming power of Luffy’s awakened state, rendered in the high-contrast, vibrant art style consistent with the game's depiction of late-series developments.
Mechanically, the card was designed to support aggressive strategies, reflecting the character's dominance in the source material. Within the competitive community, it is valued for its specific utility in boosting power during critical turns. Like many cards from the OP09 release, it serves as both a functional tool for deck builders and a commemorative piece for fans celebrating the series' ongoing narrative progression.
