Where it came from
The Kin'emon leader card was released in 2022 as part of the Paramount War expansion for the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to focus heavily on the Marineford Arc, capturing the high-stakes conflict between the Navy and the Whitebeard Pirates. As a leader card, Kin'emon was created to function as the core of a Wano-themed deck, leveraging his ability to reduce the cost of playing Wano Country characters, which established a distinct and aggressive playstyle for players focusing on that specific archetype.
The alternate art version features an illustration by a featured artist that departs from the standard card art to offer a more stylized, cinematic perspective of the character. The design emphasizes Kin'emon’s role as a samurai retainer, utilizing a composition that highlights his traditional garb and posture. Within the competitive community, these alternate art versions are highly sought after by collectors for their aesthetic contribution to the game’s visual identity and their relative scarcity compared to the standard print runs found in booster packs.
