Where it came from
Kingbaum, a character from the Whole Cake Island arc of One Piece, was released as a promotional card in the Pillars of Strength (OP-03) set. This set expanded the One Piece Card Game’s mechanics by introducing new leader archetypes and strengthening existing strategies, specifically focusing on the high-tension narrative of the Big Mom Pirates. The card features an illustration depicting the sentient, anthropomorphic tree as he appears in the series, maintaining the distinct art style consistent with the wider game's aesthetic of blending manga-accurate character designs with functional trading card layouts.
The card was primarily distributed as a pre-release promotional item, intended to generate community engagement during the rollout of the OP-03 expansion. Like many cards in the Pillars of Strength set, Kingbaum was designed to support specific color-coded synergies within the game, serving as a tactical piece for players utilizing the Purple deck archetype. Upon its release, it was well-received by players for its utility in resource manipulation, securing its place as a recognizable card for both competitive players and series collectors.
