Where it came from
The Lucy (Alternate Art) leader card, numbered OP15-002, was released as part of the 'Adventure on Kami's Island' expansion set. It represents a significant design milestone for the game, featuring high-fidelity, stylized artwork that distinguishes it from the standard card variants found in the base set. The artistic direction for this series sought to capture a more cinematic and fluid aesthetic, moving away from traditional static character poses to better reflect the adventurous tone of the island-themed arc.
This particular card was created to serve as a cornerstone for deck-building strategies, offering unique mechanics that emphasize tactical versatility. The illustration work was commissioned to emphasize the character's signature design traits while incorporating the vibrant, saturated color palette characteristic of the set's visual identity. Upon release, it was well-received by the competitive community for its utility as a leader, while collectors gravitated toward the alternate art style as a sought-after piece of the set's aesthetic expansion.
