Where it came from
The Mansherry card (OP05-088) was released in 2023 as part of the Awakening of the New Era set for the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to expand the meta-game by introducing new mechanics and characters from the Dressrosa arc, featuring card designs that emphasize the distinct visual style of the manga. The alternate art version specifically highlights Mansherry, the princess of the Tontatta Kingdom, utilizing a soft, illustrative aesthetic that contrasts with the more action-oriented designs found elsewhere in the set.
The art was commissioned to capture the character’s benevolent personality and her significance as a healer within the One Piece narrative. By utilizing the specific alternate art treatment, the design team aimed to provide collectors with a more intimate, character-focused aesthetic that deviates from standard combat-centric card layouts. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players and collectors alike, noted particularly for the card's utility in competitive decks and its high-quality foil treatment.
