Where it came from
The Mont Blanc Cricket card (OP08-108) was released as part of the promotional activities surrounding the eighth main expansion of the One Piece Card Game, titled Two Legends. This card was issued as a pre-release promotional item, designed to build anticipation among the player base ahead of the set's official launch. In the context of the game's mechanics, the card features the character Mont Blanc Cricket, a memorable figure from the Jaya Arc of the series who is known for his quest to prove the existence of the City of Gold.
The design of the card leans into the aesthetic established by the One Piece Card Game, which utilizes original character illustrations often derived from Eiichiro Oda's manga artwork. By featuring Cricket, the design aims to resonate with long-term fans of the source material, capturing his rugged appearance and thematic connection to the lore of the Grand Line. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors who prioritize thematic completeness and by players looking to integrate new tactical options into their decks during the early stages of the Two Legends meta.
