Where it came from
The Upper Yard card was originally released as part of the fifth set of the One Piece Card Game, titled Awakening of the New Era, which drew significant inspiration from the Skypiea arc of the manga and anime. Designed to function as a stage card, it reflects the iconic golden city of Shandora, capturing the thematic essence of the Skypiean setting. The card's mechanics were crafted to support specific archetypes within the game, prioritizing board control and resource management through its unique placement effects.
The alternate art version, categorized under the collector-focused Premium Booster: The Best, features a distinct aesthetic departure from the standard release. By utilizing professional illustrators often associated with high-end trading card game aesthetics, the card elevates the source material through refined line work and premium foiling techniques. It was received by the collector community as a high-tier visual highlight of the set, praised for its faithful depiction of the atmospheric and adventurous tone of the series' lore.
