Wadatsumi

Wadatsumi (OP14-056) was released as part of the promotional set for the One Piece Card Game, specifically associated with the promotional cycles surrounding the arrival of set OP-05, Awakening of the New Era. The card features the massive tiger puffer fish-man Wadatsumi, a character prominently featured in the Fish-Man Island arc, depicted here in his signature looming, hulking form. These release event cards were designed to incentivize participation in local tournament scenes and special promotional store gatherings, acting as both a functional tool for competitive players and a collectible reward for the community.

The design follows the established aesthetic of the One Piece Card Game, which leans heavily on dynamic, manga-accurate illustrations that prioritize character presence and high-contrast color palettes. As a character card, the artwork focuses on capturing the scale and formidable nature of Wadatsumi to emphasize his role as a heavy-hitting unit on the board. Like many promotional cards in this series, it was received by collectors as a localized treasure, prized for its rarity compared to standard base-set cards and its specific utility in deck-building strategies that favor high-power character drops.
