Where it came from
The Yamato P-046 card was released as a promotional item for the 2024 One Piece Card Game event circuit. Designed to coincide with the high popularity of the Wano Country arc in the manga and anime, the card features an exclusive illustration of Yamato, the son of Kaido, rendered in the distinctive, high-contrast art style consistent with the game's broader character card series. It was distributed specifically to participants and winners at sanctioned competitive events, making it a highly sought-after piece for players and collectors focusing on the One Piece Trading Card Game.
The design emphasizes Yamato's combat prowess and Oni heritage, utilizing the game's standard metallic foiling process to highlight the character's signature kanabo weapon. Since its release, the card has been received as a staple of the competitive meta for specific deck archetypes, further driving its significance within the hobby. Because it was tied to limited-run event support rather than standard booster sets, it represents a snapshot of the game's growth and the deliberate effort by Bandai to incentivize tournament participation through exclusive, limited-print collectibles.
