Where it came from
Zeff, the legendary former captain of the Cook Pirates and owner of the Baratie restaurant, appears as an alternate art character card in the Pillars of Strength expansion for the One Piece Card Game. Released as part of the third major set, this card commemorates the emotional depth of the Baratie arc, highlighting Zeff’s role as a mentor to Sanji and his transition from a feared pirate to a disciplined chef.
The card features distinct illustrative styling consistent with the alternate art variants found in the OP-03 set, which prioritize dynamic poses and thematic framing over standard base art. These versions are sought after by collectors for their elevated aesthetic treatment and the inclusion of textured foiling. The design intent was to capture the grit and authority of the 'Red-Leg' persona, anchoring the card in the series' established visual lore while serving as a functional piece within the blue-colored deck archetypes.
