What it does
Put as many damage counters as you like on Banette. (You can't put more than Banette's remaining HP.) Put that many damage counters on the Defending Pokémon.
If Banette is in your discard pile, this attack does 40 damage plus 40 more damage, then search your discard pile for Banette, show it to your opponent, and shuffle it into your deck.
A doll that became a Pokémon over its grudge from being junked. It seeks the child that disowned it.

Where it came from
Released in November 2007, the Secret Wonders expansion served as the eighth set of the Pokémon Trading Card Game's Diamond & Pearl Series. This set was notable for introducing Pokémon LV.X and items that focused on the transition between the third and fourth generations of the franchise. The Banette card reflects the series' emphasis on integrating complex gameplay mechanics while maintaining the distinct visual style established by long-time contributing artists.
The illustration for this card was provided by Kagemaru Himeno, a prominent artist who has worked on the franchise since its inception. Himeno is known for a signature soft, watercolor-influenced style that contrasts with the more aggressive, digital aesthetic seen in later sets. This particular depiction of Banette was designed to emphasize the Ghost-type’s unsettling origins, focusing on its puppet-like appearance to align with its Pokédex entries regarding discarded toys.
