Where it came from
Released in May 2012 as part of the Pokémon Trading Card Game's Dark Explorers expansion, this card captures the nurturing nature of the Normal-type Pokémon Blissey. The set, which drew heavy influence from the Pokémon Black and White video games, focused on introducing powerful Dark-type mechanics while expanding the roster of Unova region creatures.
The card features artwork by illustrator Mizue, who chose a soft, welcoming aesthetic that reflects Blissey’s reputation as a healer. The holographic treatment serves to highlight the character's rounded, iconic silhouette, fitting within the set's broader design language that emphasized high-contrast visuals and dynamic energy for Rare Holo cards of the era.
