Where it came from
Camerupt 13/122 was released in the 2016 Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion, BREAKpoint. This set was part of the XY series, which introduced the 'BREAK' evolution mechanic to the game, allowing certain Pokémon to gain increased HP and new abilities when played over their existing forms. The set drew significant design inspiration from the themes of the Kalos region, emphasizing a clash between reality and parallel dimensions.
The card features artwork by match, an illustrator who has contributed numerous designs to the series. The illustration captures Camerupt in a dynamic, fiery pose consistent with its Ground and Fire-type identity. As a Rare card within the expansion, it served as a standard-tier centerpiece for players looking to incorporate Fire-type energy acceleration into their competitive decks, reflecting the era's focus on heavy-hitting Pokémon with complex evolution chains.
