The set was designed to explore a fictional island where Pokémon had mutated due to high electromagnetic waves, resulting in them possessing types different from their traditional elemental alignment. In this instance, Chikorita—a Grass-type Pokémon by nature—was re-imagined as a Fighting-type to fit the thematic narrative of the set.
