Provenance

Where it came from

Cradily card 7/108 was released in 2007 as part of the EX Power Keepers expansion, the final set in the EX series for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set was designed to revisit mechanics and themes from previous iterations, serving as a concluding chapter before the transition to the Diamond and Pearl era. The artwork features the Barnacle Pokémon in a dynamic, defensive stance that emphasizes its Grass-type nature and prehistoric origin.

The illustration was rendered by Kouki Saitou, a long-time contributor to the Pokémon TCG known for his clean, expressive style. Saitou focused on conveying Cradily’s unique physiology, characterized by its suction-cup tentacles and lily-like head. Upon release, the card was noted for its tactical ability to disrupt opponents by forcing switches, making it a functional inclusion in competitive decks of that period.
