Dark Metal Energy

The Dark Metal Energy card was introduced in the 2006 Pokémon TCG expansion Holon Phantoms. It was created to support the unique Delta Species mechanic, which allowed Pokémon to shift their elemental types, often blending Steel and Darkness themes. As a special energy card, it provided a tactical advantage by granting both colorless energy and a specific damage-reduction effect when attached to a Dark-type Pokémon, reflecting the shadowy, experimental nature of the Holon region's research facilities.

The card’s aesthetic follows the distinct industrial design of the EX-series era, characterized by a clean, minimalist layout that highlights the metallic texture of the energy symbol. While the specific illustrator is not credited on the card face, it adheres to the consistent, high-contrast digital art style used throughout the Holon Phantoms set. It was well-received by competitive players at the time for its utility in mitigating damage in high-pressure matchups, cementing its status as a staple for deck-building during that generation of the game.
