What it does
As long as Erika's Ivysaur is your Active Pokémon, whenever an attack (even your own) does damage to any Pokémon (after applying Weakness and Resistance), that attack only does half the damage to that Pokémon (rounded up to the nearest 10). (Any other effects of attacks still happen.) This power stops working while Erika's Ivysaur is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.
Flip 2 coins. This attack does 40 damage times the number of heads.

Where it came from
Erika's Ivysaur was released as part of the 2000 Gym Challenge expansion, a set designed to showcase the signature Pokémon of the Kanto region Gym Leaders. This specific card focuses on Erika, the Celadon City Gym Leader, and follows the thematic design established in the Japanese Gym series. It was created to integrate the personality of the trainers into the trading card game, moving away from wild Pokémon tropes to emphasize the deep bond between a leader and their partner.
The card features artwork by Ken Sugimori, whose minimalist and clean style defined the early visual identity of the Pokémon franchise. Sugimori aimed to capture the tranquil yet sturdy nature of the Grass-type Pokémon while maintaining consistency with the established aesthetics of the first generation. Upon release, the card was well-received by players for its practical gameplay utility in Erika-themed decks, eventually becoming a nostalgic staple for those who valued the specific lore surrounding the Gym Leaders.
