Fairy Energy

The Fairy Energy card from the XY—Evolutions set was released in November 2016 as part of a nostalgic expansion designed to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set famously reimagined the cards from the original Base Set, updating them with modern game mechanics and current card templates while retaining the iconic aesthetic of the late 1990s. The Fairy type, which was not introduced until the 2013 X and Y series, was included in this set to provide a comprehensive energy resource for modern players navigating the updated ruleset.

The design of the card adheres to the clean, minimalist layout of the Evolutions series, featuring a distinct, stylized Fairy symbol set against a soft, radiant pink background. By mimicking the layout of traditional basic energy cards, the design team aimed to integrate the newer Fairy type seamlessly alongside the classic Fire, Water, and Grass energies. While it functions as a standard resource card, it remains notable for being one of the few cards from the Evolutions era to feature the updated card border and typeface applied to the Fairy energy classification.
