Flareon δ

Released in the 2005 Pokémon TCG expansion Delta Species, this card features Flareon as a dual-type creature, a defining mechanic of the set. The Delta Species cards were introduced as part of a narrative arc involving the Holon Research Tower, where scientists conducted experiments that altered the elemental types of Pokémon. This shift allowed artists to reimagine familiar creatures with unique color palettes and environments, departing from their traditional habitats to reflect their new, mutated typing.

The illustration for this card was created by Kouki Saitou, a prolific artist within the Pokémon TCG who is noted for his distinct, expressive linework. By portraying Flareon in this specialized form, Saitou captured the aesthetic of the experiment-driven theme while maintaining the recognizable silhouette of the classic evolution. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players and collectors alike, as the Delta Species set successfully revitalized interest in the competitive landscape by introducing unconventional type matchups that countered existing meta strategies.
